OP17, "The World's Strongest Warriors," is Bandai's next main-line One Piece set, and it's already moving on the secondary market ahead of its listed street date -- early boxes are out and singles are pricing in. It's the first mainline set since June's OP16 ("The Time of Battle"), so here's what's actually commanding money before it's fully opened everywhere.

The Luffy gap is the headline, and it's worth understanding why. The regular alternate-art Luffy Leader (079) is a strong $226.74 on its own -- that's already a good pull. But there's a second, higher-end parallel of the exact same card, listed as the "Super Leader Alternate Art," pricing at $2,500. That's roughly an 11x jump for what is functionally the same card in a rarer print treatment. Gaps that size almost always mean a low-numbered or serialized parallel with only a handful of confirmed copies in circulation -- treat that $2,500 figure as a snapshot of whatever's currently listed, not a stable valuation, since a market this thin can move sharply on a single new sale either direction.

Rocks.D.Xebec is the one to watch if you care about the story angle, not just the price. He's a legendary pirate captain who, until this set, existed in the anime and manga mostly as flashback and reputation -- this is effectively his first real Leader card. That's likely why his alt art Leader ($189.62) and secret rare ($139) are both cresting well above most of the rest of the set outside the Luffy and Shanks prints: first-time physical cards for long-teased characters tend to draw collector demand independent of how the card actually plays.

Sealed math is worth doing before you buy multiples. A single booster box prices at $391.42, which would put a 12-box case at $4,697.04 if it scaled linearly. It doesn't -- the case is trading at $4,082.96, about $340 per box inside it. That's a real, current bulk discount, and it matters if you're a shop or a player planning to open a lot of packs rather than chase one or two singles.

One more caution on that Buggy promo. The $625 SP print of Buggy (P-084) is a limited-distribution promo card, not a pulled pack card, and promo cards like this trade in genuinely thin volume -- a handful of sales can swing the market price a long way in either direction. If you're buying it as an investment rather than to complete a set, don't treat that number as load-bearing.

Net read: this is a set where the money is concentrated at the very top -- one Leader parallel, one promo, and the debut prints for two or three marquee characters -- while the rest of the set, including most commons and uncommons, is trading in single-digit dollars. That's a fairly normal shape for a fresh One Piece set this early in its release window; whether Rocks and the Super Leader Luffy hold this premium once the official street date hits and more boxes get opened is the thing worth checking back on.
